In the car, in the car, in the backseat I'm your baby
We go fast, we go so fast we don't move
I believe in a place you take me
Make you real proud of your baby
In your car, I'm a star and I'm burning through you
In your car, I'm a star and I'm burning through you
Oh, be my once in a lifetime
Lying on your chest
In my party dress
I'm a fucking mess, but I
Oh, thanks for the high life
Baby, you's the best
Passed the test and yes
Now I'm here with you and I
Would like to think that you would stick around
You know that I just die to make you proud
The taste, the touch, the way we love
It all comes down to make the sound of our love song
Dream a dream, use the scene, touch me anywhere 'cause I'm your baby
Grab my waist, don't waste any part
I believe that you see me for who I am
So spill my clothes on the floor of your new car
Is it safe, is it safe to just be who we are?
Is it safe, is it safe to just be who we are?
Oh, be my once in a lifetime
Lying on your chest
In my party dress
I'm a fucking mess, but I
Oh, thanks for the high life
Baby, you's the best
Passed the test and yes
Now I'm here with you and I
Would like to think that you would stick around
You know that I just die to make you proud
The taste, the touch, the way we love
It all comes down to make the sound of our love song
The taste, the touch, the way we love
It all comes down to make the sound of our love song
And when the moon grows smaller
Donna picks out a flower
Gives her a witchy power
There in the witching hour
In the witching hour
Donna's taking her potion
Eating all my devotion
Fucking up my emotion
In the witching hour
Donna picks her a flower
In the witching hour
On the graveyard hill
She's calling out her curse
I'm taking my last breath
With each chapter and each verse
And soon I will be killed
In the poisonous forest
Donna lights up her torches
Her eyes are flying saucers
Her hair is black and gorgeous
I see her down at the crossroads
She can lead you to madness
She's leading me into darkness
In the witching hour
In the witching hour
In the witching hour
On the graveyard hill
She's calling out her curse
I'm taking my last breath
With each chapter and each verse
And soon I will be killed
On the graveyard hill
She's calling out her curse
I'm taking my last breath
With each chapter and each verse
And soon I will be killed
I am beside you
I am beside you
I am beside you
I am beside you
Look for me
Look for me
I am beside you
Look for me
I try to forget
To remember
That nothing is something
Where something is meant to be
I am beside you
I am beside you
Look for me
Look for me
Well, I think they’ve gathered here for me
I am within you
You are within me
I am beside you
You are beside me
I think they’re singing to be free
I think they’re singing to be free
I think my friends have gathered here for me
I think they’ve gathered here
To be beside me
Look for me
Look for me
I am beside you
You are beside me
You are beside me
Look for me
My daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue".
Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk,
It seems I had to fight my whole life through.
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue".
Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
My fist got hard and my wits got keen,
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name.
Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry,
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew.
At an old saloon on a street of mud,
There at a table, dealing stud,
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue".
Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said, "My name is 'Sue'! How do you do!
Now you're gonna die!"
Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear.
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.
I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when,
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile.
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss,
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first,
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile.
And he said, "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."
He said, "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do.
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I'm the son of a bitch that named you 'Sue'."
I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son,
And I came away with a different point of view.
And I think about him, now and then,
Every time I try and every time I win,
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name!
Charlie don't surf and we think he should
Charlie don't surf and you know that it ain't no good
Charlie don't surf for his hamburger Momma
Charlie's gonna be a napalm star
Everybody wants to rule the world
Must be something we get from birth
One truth is we never learn
Satellites will make space burn
We've been told to keep the strangers out
We don't like them starting to hang around
We don't like them all over town
Across the world we are going to blow them down
Charlie don't surf and we think he should
Charlie don't surf and you know that it ain't no good
Charlie don't surf for his hamburger Momma
Charlie's gonna be a napalm star
The reign of the super powers must be over
So many armies can't free the earth
Soon the rock will roll over
Africa is choking on their Coca Cola
It's a one a way street in a one horse town
One way people starting to brag around
You can laugh, put them down
These one way people gonna blow us down
Charlie don't surf and we think he should
Charlie don't surf and you know that it ain't no good
Charlie don't surf for his hamburger Momma
Charlie's gonna be a napalm star
Charlie don't surf he'll never learn
Charlie don't surf though he's got a gun
Charlie don't surf think that he should
Charlie don't surf we really think he should
Charlie don't surf
Charlie don't surf and we think he should
Charlie don't surf and you know that it ain't no good
Charlie don't surf for his hamburger Momma
Charlie don't surf
Davey, wakes wearing a frown
Cause he knows that she's around
He's in his dressin' gown, down and Davey
Davey, dreams of days gone by
Makes Davey wanna cry
He weeps and wonders why
Since he tied the knot
It's what Davey got
Wife of woe, all aggro
Why, why, why, why, oh oh oh oh
She makes Davey's days so blue, oh oh oh oh
These days of Davey's, Davey's
These days of Davey's these, Daveys
Days of Daveys
Davey, Davey's days are days so glum
How did Davey be so dumb
What the bleedin' eck's become of Davey
Davey, the memories of what he had
Make Davey discontent and sad
A lost and lonely lad
Since he tied the knot
It's what Davey got
Wife of woe, all aggro
Why, why, why, why, oh oh oh oh
She makes Davey's days so blue, oh oh oh oh
These days of Davey's, Davey's
These days of Davey's these, Daveys
Days of Daveys
Dave the nut made a big mistake
When he cut the wedding cake
We all said at your peril
But Davey wed a she devil
(Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
His days were gone, the gormless goon
When he went on his honeymoon
(Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Grief and pains, Davey says
Is what remains of Davey's days
Why, why, why, why, oh oh oh oh
She makes Davey's days so blue, oh oh oh oh
These days of Davey's, Davey's
These days of Davey's these, Daveys
Days of Daveys
